Xiaomi 17T Series Debuts with Leica 5x Telephoto and AI Zoom
Xiaomi has launched the 17T and 17T Pro smartphones, co-engineered with Leica, featuring a first-ever Leica-branded 5x telephoto camera for the T series. Both phones include a 50MP telephoto with 10x optical-grade zoom, macro capabilities, and AI-powered 120x Ultra Zoom. The 17T Pro has a larger 6.83-inch display and a 50MP main camera with a Type 1/1.31 sensor, while the 17T offers a 6.56-inch screen and a 50MP main camera with a Type 1/1.55 sensor. Both share a 12MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree field of view. Leica's involvement extends to Leica UltraPure optics, hybrid Summilux lens structure, and a new Leica Live Moment feature that uses AI to select the best frame from a burst. The phones run Android 16 with Google Gemini and MediaTek Dimensity chips (8500 Ultra for 17T, 9500 for 17T Pro). Video capabilities include 4Kp60 on both, with the Pro adding 4Kp120 and 8Kp30. Pricing starts at €749 ($870) for the 17T and €899 ($1,045) for the 17T Pro, available in June.
