XI Berlin Biennale 2020: Four Venues, Three Preliminary Experiences
Scheduled to take place from June 13 to September 13, 2020, the 11th Berlin Biennale for Contemporary Art will be hosted at ExRotaprint, Daadgalerie, Gropius Bau, and KW Institute for Contemporary Art. Curators María Berríos, Renata Cervetto, Lisette Lagnado, and Agustín Pérez Rubio will explore the theme of "lived experiences." The initiative includes three preliminary experiences that started in September 2019 and will wrap up in May 2020, aimed at building connections with artists and the local community. The program features exhibitions, workshops, residencies, and conferences, with the biennale acting as an "epilogue." Key venues include ExRotaprint, transformed in 2004, Daadgalerie, established in 1978, Gropius Bau, constructed in 1881, and KW Institute, founded in the early 1990s. The overarching theme reflects on "the complicated beauty of life while the world burns."
