X Zhu-Nowell appointed artistic director of Rockbund Art Museum
X Zhu-Nowell has been named the new artistic director of Shanghai's Rockbund Art Museum, stepping in for Larys Frogier. Previously, Zhu-Nowell was a curator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, where they played a key role in launching the Asian Art Circle in 2014, which focuses on acquiring works by Asian artists. They also curated the exhibition Wu Tsang: Anthem. As a consulting curator for RAM, Zhu-Nowell led the fifth edition of RAM Highlights in 2022, called The Good Life. In 2023, Zhu-Nowell's exhibition lineup will showcase women artists from the Asian diaspora, aiming to provoke thought on themes of place, identity, geography, and nationality.
