X+Living Unveils MINISO LAND Flagship in Guangzhou with Classical-Pop Fusion

Architecture and design studio X+Living has completed the MINISO LAND Guangzhou No. 1 Store in Guangzhou's Grandview Mall, marking the brand's symbolic return to its founding city. The dual-level, 0.4-meter-deep facade unfolds like a pop-up gift box, featuring stylized flora, fauna, and IP characters, and dialogues with the adjacent oceanarium and science museum. The ground floor employs classical Greek aesthetics—symmetrical colonnades, soaring arches, and mathematical proportions—to create a serene backdrop for colorful merchandise. A mirrored ceiling doubles the geometry and hues of a central red apple installation, which subverts Edenic archetypes to celebrate curiosity. Custom shelving integrates into structural columns, blending architecture with product display. The second floor, themed "Ode to Joy," spans a 37-meter facade and uses music as a structural metaphor, with displays resembling whimsical machinery and musical instruments. Exposed metal rivets, mechanical arms, and raw-material crates evoke a playful industrial aesthetic. The store offers a surreal refuge from urban life, elevating consumption into a shared emotional experience. This flagship refines the energy of X+Living's earlier MINISO Land in Shanghai with a more classical spatial hierarchy, continuing the studio's practice of treating commercial interiors as immersive narrative worlds.
