Wyoming Whiskey Releases State of the Union Bourbon for America's 250th
Wyoming Whiskey, the first legal distillery in Wyoming, has launched a special wheated bourbon called State of the Union to celebrate America's 250th birthday. Founded in 2006 by Brad and Kate Mead and David DeFazio in Kirby, the distillery has experienced ownership changes recently. In 2018, Edrington, a Scottish company known for The Macallan and Highland Park, acquired a minority stake, gained majority control in 2023, and then sold its shares in June 2024 to WW Partners, LLC, led by DeFazio. This bourbon features a mashbill of 68% corn, 20% wheat, and 12% malted barley, aged for six years and bottled at 98 proof. Tasting notes include raspberry, lemon, and sweet tea. It's priced at $80 and available in select stores and online. DeFazio commented on the enduring spirit of America.
