Wu-Tang Clan's 36 Chambers reimagined as limited-edition sculpture books

publication · 2026-04-27

A limited edition of 36 massive hardcover books, each encased in a steel and bronze chamber, tells the story of the Wu-Tang Clan. The books, weighing 400 pounds each, were created by British artist Gethin Jones, described as a protégé of Antony Gormley. Inspired by ancient Zhou dynasty ritual bronze bowls, the chambers are made of spun mild steel with raised ridges, base, and logo in solid brushed brass. Each book contains 300 pages of rare and unseen photos by friends, family, and photographers including Danny Hastings, Kyle Christie, and Andy Cantillon. Printed and bound in Italy with premium leathers and materials, the edition references the group's 1993 debut album "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)" and the 1978 kung-fu film "The 36th Chamber of Shaolin." The project is managed by John "Mook" Gibbons.
