World's largest orchestra of 7,500 musicians performs in Frankfurt stadium
A record-breaking orchestra of 7,500 musicians performed at the Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Germany, surpassing the previous Guinness World Record of 7,224 musicians set in 2013 by the Queensland Music Festival in Brisbane, Australia. The 45-minute concert was organized by 29-year-old Hamburg music teacher Jens Illemann, who installed a giant screen so conductor Wolf Kerschek could be seen by all performers. The ensemble, comprising amateur groups and entire orchestras from Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, played works by Dvořák, Beethoven (Ode to Joy), and John Miles. The event was staged after the UEFA European Championship ended, using the stadium solely for its capacity.
