World Press Photo Contest 2019 Winners Announced

The 62nd edition of the World Press Photo Contest has announced its winners. The World Press Photo of the Year was awarded to John Moore for "Crying Girl on the Border," depicting a Honduran child in tears as her mother is searched by a US border agent. Pieter Ten Hoopen won World Press Photo Story of the Year for "The Migrant Caravan," showing migrants from Honduras heading to the US in October 2018. Two Italian photographers from Agenzia Contrasto were also honored: Marco Gualazzini won in the Environment, Stories category, and Lorenzo Tugnoli in General News, Stories. The winning images will tour globally, with exhibitions in Rome at Palazzo delle Esposizioni (April 25–May 26) and Milan at Fondazione Sozzani (May 11–June 2).
