festival-fair · 2026-06-01

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching, both Houston and Dallas are highlighting public artworks in connection with the event. In Dallas, a FIFA-themed mural by Rosalie de Graaf has taken the place of Robert Wyland's Whaling Wall. During the Dallas Arts District Fest from June 19 to July 9, Kurt Perschke's RedBall project will be featured. The Deep Ellum Foundation has collaborated with six artists to produce 180 banners. Meanwhile, Arlington unveiled an 18-foot bronze Texan Golden Boot by Steve Ekpenisi at AT&T Stadium. The Arlington Museum's More Than a Match series showcases Art of the Game, and the African American Museum will launch Mandela: The Official Exhibition on June 13. On May 23, Fort Worth introduced 30 soccer ball sculptures, while Houston's Betirri created a 200-foot mural for the FIFA Fan Festival.
