Wopart Fair Returns to Lugano for Second Edition Focused on Works on Paper
The second edition of Wopart – Work on Paper Fair will take place at the Centro Esposizioni in Lugano from September 14 to 17, 2017. Directed by Luigi Belluzzi, the fair will host over sixty galleries from 11 countries, selected by a scientific committee chaired by Giandomenico Di Marzio and Paolo Manazza. The event focuses exclusively on artworks on paper, including old master drawings, oriental and modern prints, artist's books, photographs, and watercolors. Paolo Manazza noted that in the last five years, works on paper from modern and contemporary art auctions in London and New York have traded for approximately $180 million, excluding Old Master and Asian Art sales, highlighting the segment's investment potential. Concurrently, REAL, the first Lugano Art Publishing Review, will take place on September 16 from 11 am to 9 pm at via Cattedrale, organized by Libreria Choisi and cultural association Turba in collaboration with Galleria Daniele Agostini. The free event will showcase traditional and contemporary art publishers, including those specializing in photography books, artist's books, illustration, and comics. Other paper-focused fairs include Drawing Room in Madrid, held alongside ARCO in February, and the upcoming ArtMadrid On Paper in November. Artissima will also feature a section called Disegni, curated by Luís Silva and João Mourão of Kunsthalle Lissabon.
