WopArt 2022: Lugano's Paper Art Fair Explores Materiality and NFTs
The seventh edition of WopArt, a fair dedicated to works on paper, opens in Lugano, Switzerland, from September 23 to 25, 2022. Under the title "Others. The Paper and Its Mirror, Nft!" the event examines the relationship between physical paper art and digital NFTs, while also addressing inclusion and sustainability. Over 50 galleries and foundations will exhibit at the Centro Esposizioni di Lugano, offering works with price ranges starting from 300 to 2,000 euros. Notable pieces include Emilio Isgrò's "Il Go" (1972) from Stefano Orler (Venice), Robert Rauschenberg's "Senza titolo" (1974) from Galleria Immaginaria (Florence), and Grazia Varisco's "Extrapagina" (1977-2011) from Cortesi Gallery (Lugano-Milan). Other participating galleries include Farsetti (Milan), Mazzoli (Modena-Berlin), HProject (Venice-Dubai), Migrant Gallery (Berlin-Beijing), Mojdeh Art Gallery (Tehran), and Iris Contemporary Space (Tehran). The fair also features solo exhibitions by digital artist Valentina Picozzi at the entrance, Luca Maria Gambardella's "Am I Human?" dispersed among stands, and Paola Greggio's works in the Talk area. A collaboration with MUSEC presents children's drawings from Papua New Guinea collected by artist Dadi Wirz in the early 1950s, as part of the ongoing exhibition "L'infanzia del segno." Throughout the city, contemporary art installations will accompany the fair until September 25.
