Wood Marsh Transforms Fairlie's Ground Floor into Wellness Centre
Wood Marsh has finalized the Fairlie Wellness Centre, an adaptive reuse initiative situated on the ground floor of Fairlie, a heritage-listed high-rise in South Yarra, Australia. Fairlie, designed by Yuncken Freeman Brothers, Griffiths & Simpson and completed in 1961, is renowned for its modernist architecture, featuring prefabricated concrete frames, a non-loadbearing curtain wall, and arched pilotis. The renovation honors the building's cultural importance through minimalist design and meticulous detailing. Miwa Negoro curated the project, while landscape architecture was handled by Kate Seddon Landscape Design, and Comb Construction managed the building process. Photography for the project was done by Timothy Kaye, and the heritage designation necessitated a careful architectural strategy.
