Wong Ping's 'Heart Digger' Exhibition at Camden Arts Centre and Cork Street Features Absurdist Political Commentary

The exhibition 'Heart Digger' by Wong Ping was hosted at Camden Arts Centre and 5–6 Cork Street, London, from 5 July to 15 September 2019. This Hong Kong artist presented a variety of digital animations and sculptures, notably 'Organic Smuggling Tunnel (Chunk 1 and 2)' (2019), which featured an inflatable giraffe resting in a heart-shaped grave, reflecting the political unrest of the June 2019 protests. Key animations included 'Dear, Can I Give You a Hand?' (2018), which delved into themes of despair and capitalism, alongside four animated 'Fables' (2018–) that explored nihilistic ideas. Humor was employed in another installation to critique gentrification. This exhibition emerged following Wong's victory in Camden Arts Centre's first Emerging Artist Prize, merging playful visuals with profound social insights.
