Wonderful! Residency Exhibition at Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence
The group exhibition 'Anche in un castello si può cadere' presents works by four artists from the first edition of the Wonderful! residency project. Curated by Benedetta Casini, the show occupies the raw spaces of the former Caveau at Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence. The residency was initiated by Museo Novecento Firenze and its director Sergio Risaliti, curated by Stefania Rispoli, supported by philanthropist Maria Manetti Shrem, and realized in collaboration with Fondazione Claudia Cardinale. Artists Friedrich Andreoni, Lucia Cantò, Benedetta Fioravanti, and Giovanna Repetto created site-specific works. Fioravanti's video 'I still love you' blends everyday stories with YouTube footage. Cantò experiments with alabaster and glass in 'Il problema dei due corpi'. Repetto uses dried artemisia in performative gestures. Andreoni's sound installation 'What to do with our dreams?' scales the Church of San Miniato al Monte and distorts Gregorian chants.
