Women's Freedom Explored in Rome Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-27

La Fondazione in Rome hosts a group exhibition curated by Pier Paolo Pancotto, featuring works by the collective Claire Fontaine, Marinella Senatore, and early 20th-century painter Pasquarosa. The show explores female freedom against patriarchal stereotypes through video, light installations, sculptures, and paintings. Pasquarosa, born Pasquarosa Bertoletti Marcelli in Anticoli Corrado, is known for vivid, non-academic still lifes. Claire Fontaine's neon piece "I say I" and Senatore's collages of women in déshabillé reference feminist critic Carla Lonzi. The installation "Women are the moon that moves the tides" greets visitors. The exhibition opened in 2020.
