Women in the Art World Discuss Discrimination and Market at Sky Arte Festival

At the debut of the Sky Arte Festival in Naples, a talk titled "Le donne nell'arte" was hosted at Villa Pignatelli. Moderated by Sarah Varetto, director of Sky TG24, the panel included artist Rä di Martino, curator Ilaria Bonacossa (new director of Artissima), critic Alessandra Mammì, and gallerist Laura Trisorio. They discussed the role of women in contemporary art, discrimination in the creative sector, and how female artists have turned domestic intimacy into an advantage since the 1970s. Mammì noted that women artists have high growth potential in the market. Bonacossa observed a greater female presence in contemporary art compared to cinema or literature. Trisorio announced that the next edition of Artecinema, a Naples-based festival focusing on visual arts and moving image, will feature a group of female artists creating virtual exhibitions, combining reflection on women's status with new technologies.
