Women Illustrators Take Over Milan Pop-Up Show

exhibition · 2026-05-05

After London and Berlin, a pop-up exhibition dedicated to female illustration lands in Milan, featuring twenty-seven works by Italy's most talented women artists. Curated by Chiara Levi and Johnny Cobalto for the digital project BetterDays, the show paradoxically aims to revive the expressive power of analog techniques. Markers, charcoal, pencil, and collage invade conceptual art, returning to the unequivocal precision of color. The works range from the metaphysical landscapes of Marianna Tomaselli, reminiscent of De Chirico, to the expressionist Choral Anthology by Gaia Alari. Textile artist Sarah Edith experiments with other media, while Gaia Bernasconi is already a Milanese institution. Also featured are La Fille Bertha, recently a muralist in Genoa, and Isabella Bersellini, discovered by the Timmerman collective. Men are not admitted, even if polite.
