Wolfgang Tillmans to Speak at Fondation Beyeler's Artist Talks Program
Wolfgang Tillmans will participate in the Fondation Beyeler's Artist Talks program on Thursday 7 September at 6.30pm. The event is co-hosted by UBS and marks the continuation of this new initiative. Tillmans will discuss his artistic practice in relation to his current exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler. He gained prominence in the early 1990s through photographs that defined a generational sensibility. His work has since evolved to challenge photographic conventions across portraiture, still life, landscape, and abstraction. The Artist Talks program represents an open format that includes solo presentations and moderated dialogues with art world figures. For the first time, Fondation Beyeler is expanding this program beyond Basel to international cities like London, Seoul, Shanghai, and Istanbul. An interview with Tillmans by Martin Herbert from ArtReview's April 2013 issue is available for reading prior to the event. Ticket information and further details can be found on the Fondation Beyeler website.
