Wolfgang Tillmans Awarded 2015 Hasselblad Photography Prize

The Hasselblad Foundation has announced Wolfgang Tillmans as the 2015 recipient of its International Award in Photography. The German artist will receive SEK 1,000,000 (approximately €110,000) during a ceremony scheduled for 30 November 2015 in Gothenburg. Following this, a new exhibition showcasing his work will debut at the Hasselblad Center in Sweden on 1 December 2015, alongside the release of a book by Tillmans. Established in 1980, this prestigious annual award is considered the foremost accolade in photography, with previous honorees such as Irving Penn and Hiroshi Sugimoto. The jury commended Tillmans for his innovative spirit and his engagement with social and political issues since the 1990s. His work is currently on display at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris until 18 May 2015.
