Wolfgang Mitterer and Giuseppe Ielasi at Inner_Spaces 2017
The fourth edition of Inner_Spaces, part of Milano Music Week, featured electroacoustic performances by Giuseppe Ielasi and Wolfgang Mitterer at Auditorium San Fedele in Milan on November 26, 2017. Curated by San Fedele Musica and the Plunge collective, the event used the Acusmonium Sator, a 50-speaker system designed by Eraldo Bocca, unique in Italy, to create immersive, spatialized sound. Ielasi premiered 'Untitled, 2017' for laptop, producing muted, particulate sounds that evoked a calm, post-human technological landscape. Mitterer performed 'Hallo Mr. Bruckner' and a reworked 'Music for checking e-mails… Giving the illusion of depth' (2009), using prepared piano and samples from the Col Legno label to collage classical fragments with mechanical and natural sounds, paying homage to Anton Bruckner. His surrealist approach questioned the rehabilitation of classical heritage through electronic means.
