WiseMind, a new multi-agent AI framework, has been launched to enhance psychiatric evaluations. It features two distinct agents: the "Reasonable Mind" Agent, which focuses on evidence-based reasoning, and the "Emotional Mind" Agent, aimed at fostering empathetic dialogue. This innovative framework seeks to reconcile the need for precise diagnoses with compassionate care. By employing a Structured Knowledge Graph aligned with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), it guides diagnostic processes and notably minimizes hallucinations compared to traditional prompting techniques. Drawing inspiration from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, the framework has been evaluated using a mix of virtual standard patients. Large Language Models (LLMs) present valuable prospects for mental healthcare workflows but often lack the structured clinical reasoning necessary for dependable diagnoses and may fail to deliver the emotionally sensitive communication vital for building patient trust.
