Winston Taylor Photo Portrait Prize 2026 Shortlist Announced by National Portrait Gallery
The Winston Taylor Photo Portrait Prize 2026 has revealed its four finalists, selected from a pool of nearly 4,000 submissions by 1,338 photographers. The contenders are James Clifford Kent, Marcie Docherty, Katie Hitchcock-Smith, and Max Pattenden. The announcement of the winner will take place on 3 November 2026, followed by an exhibition from 5 November 2026 to 17 January 2027, featuring 56 artworks. Kent's entry showcases a Cuban pentathlete, while Docherty's 'PE' offers a critique of masculinity. Hitchcock-Smith presents 'Moroccan (Amazigh) Cowboys,' blending Western motifs with Amazigh culture, and Pattenden's 'Havannah, Lee Moor' portrays a girl from Devon. The judging panel consists of Emma Dabiri, Nadine Ijewere, Mary McCartney, and Brandei Estes, with total prizes amounting to £28,000.
