Window to the Heart: Times Square's Valentine's Day Art Installation

architecture-design · 2026-05-05

Times Square Arts has unveiled 'Window to the Heart', a large lens with a heart-shaped hole for photos, designed by Aranda\Lasch and Marcelo Coelho in collaboration with Formlabs. The installation, part of the annual Times Square Valentine Heart Design competition, opened February 1 at Father Duffy Square between 46th and 47th Streets. Benjamin Aranda noted the idea came from observing people taking photos in Times Square. The studio, founded in 2003 by Benjamin Aranda and Chris Lasch, has previously exhibited at the 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale and the Museum of Modern Art in 2007. Times Square Arts also runs Midnight Moment, a nightly digital art display, and the Jungle-Ized app experience.
