William Kentridge's 'Triumphs and Laments' Film Screens Globally

The film 'Triumphs and Laments,' directed by Giovanni Troilo and produced by Andrea Patierno and Beatrice Bulgari, documents William Kentridge's monumental 550-meter-long frieze along the Tiber River in Rome. Composed of 90 icons, it is the largest contemporary artwork ever created in the city. The film, made in collaboration with Sky Arte HD, RAI Cinema, Lia Rumma, and Tevereterno, had its world premiere at the Festival Internazionale di Roma. It will be screened simultaneously in over thirty museums worldwide from May 15 to July 4, 2017, including venues in New York, Beijing, Athens, Dubai, Toronto, Buenos Aires, Rome, and Milan. Italian screenings are confirmed at Museo Riso in Palermo (May 20-21), Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa in Palermo (May 24), Fondazione Museo Pino Pascali in Polignano a Mare (June 1), MAMbo in Bologna (June 10-11), Mar and Galleria Civica in Trento (June 15), Castello di Rivoli in Turin (June 21), PAC in Milan (July 3), and Macro in Rome (date TBD). The film captures over two years of footage, from the work's conception to its inaugural performance, preserving the ephemeral frieze for posterity.
