Willa Wasserman's 'Purple Apple' Exhibition Opens at Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel in São Paulo

exhibition · 2026-04-19

From February 25 to April 18, Fortes D'Aloia & Gabriel will host 'Purple apple,' the inaugural solo exhibition of Willa Wasserman in Brazil, at its FDAG Jardins venue in São Paulo. This exhibition showcases a variety of works, including small paintings on linen and brass, as well as larger pieces on fabric, created during Wasserman's residency at Casa Onze in both New York and São Paulo. Through the use of oil, silverpoint, and chemical techniques, she delves into themes of intimacy, gender, and transformation, employing a figurative style that embraces fluid spaces and reinterprets traditional methods. Highlights include 'From the garden at the new squat' (2026) and 'Still life with purple apple, empty bowl, lock rake' (2026). Visitors can view the exhibition Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Rua Barão de Capanema 343.
