Wilfrid Almendra's Sculptural Fragments at Frac Aquitaine and Buy-Sellf

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Wilfrid Almendra presented sculptures at Frac Collection Aquitaine and Zébra3-Buy Self in Bordeaux from November 2, 2006 to January 13, 2007. His works, including a seventeen-meter-long wave of glazed earthenware tiles with a vegetal pattern and a pineapple on a blue pool step, resist closure and interpretation. Almendra fragments and collages elements from contemporary trends, decorative arts, suburban culture, architecture, rock, floral arrangements, craftsmanship, and popular imagery. His recent pieces, Good Bye Sunny Dream and Backflip dans un hangar, produced by Buy-Sellf, expand this proliferation. The fabrication relies on skilled craftsmanship and precise assembly to give coherence to the fragmentation. Almendra also participated in the group exhibition Zones arides curated by Patrice Joly at Le Lieu unique, Nantes (November 12 – January 7) and at Fondation d'entreprise Ricard, Paris (November 24, 2006 – January 5, 2007).
