Wikimedia Italia invites Italian museums to share culture on Wikipedia
Wikimedia Italia, together with ICOM Italia and Creative Commons Italia, has initiated 'Tutti i musei su Wikipedia / Empowering Italian GLAMs' to enhance the presence of Italian museums on Wikipedia. This initiative seeks to facilitate open access to cultural heritage by contacting 4,000 museums across Italy to confirm their data on Wikidata and to upload twenty images to Wikimedia Commons. These images will be made available to the public domain through the CC0 tool. The project aims to boost the visibility of museums, attracting new visitors and researchers. Additionally, Wikimedia Italia provides volunteer assistance for content uploads and has hosted a webinar focused on creating Open Access Policies, incorporating feedback from museums and partnering with the Museo Egizio in Turin.
