exhibition · 2026-05-05

The Wiki Loves Monuments photography competition, launched in 2010 by Wikimedia Netherlands and recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest photo contest globally, invites citizens from over 50 countries to photograph cultural heritage sites and share images under free license on Wikimedia Commons. Its Italian edition, active since 2012, runs annually until September 30, amassing over 70,000 images since inception, used by users more than 5 million times per year. For the first time, the traditional exhibition of winning shots, selected by an expert jury from over 20,000 entries from the 2016 edition, is hosted in Sardinia at the Castello di San Michele in Cagliari. The displayed photographs showcase Italy's most beautiful monuments in spectacular and unprecedented perspectives.
