Whitney Museum names Jane Panetta and Rujeko Hockley as 2019 Biennial curators

On December 14, 2017, the Whitney Museum of American Art revealed that Jane Panetta and Rujeko Hockley will co-curate the 2019 Whitney Biennial. Both individuals are currently part of the museum's team. Panetta, an associate curator, has previously organized solo exhibitions for Willa Nasatir in 2017 and Njideka Akunyili Crosby from 2015 to 2016. She also collaborated with Christopher Y. Lew on the 2016 exhibition Mirror Cells and the 2017 show Fast Forward: Painting from the 1980s. Her next exhibition, Juan Antonio Olivares: Moléculas, is set to debut in March 2018. Hockley, who joined the Whitney in 2017, previously worked as an assistant curator at the Brooklyn Museum, contributing to the 2014 exhibition Crossing Brooklyn: Art from Bushwick, Bed-Stuy, and Beyond.
