Whitespace Projects: New Contemporary Art Space Opens in Naples
Whitespace Projects, a new contemporary art space, is set to open in Naples between the Accademia di Belle Arti and the Museo Archeologico Nazionale. Founded by visual artist Pietro Costa (Naples, 1960), the space will house his new studio and a project room for external exhibitions. The inaugural exhibition will feature a site-specific show by artist Agnes Questionmark (Rome, 1995) in October 2025, following a residency period. The space is coordinated by Concetta Luise and curated by Alessandra Troncone, who also curated the 2025 edition of the Quadriennale d'Arte di Roma. Whitespace Projects aims to foster dialogue between Naples and New York, bridging cultures and languages. During her residency, Agnes Questionmark will simultaneously work on her project for the 18th edition of the Quadriennale d'Arte di Roma, titled "Fantastica," and her first site-specific show in Naples, linking both events in autumn 2025. Costa's long-running project "bloodworks" (since 1989), which explores genetic and anthropological identity using blood, aligns with Questionmark's practice. Costa expressed hope that the space will enrich Naples with new international dialogues and visions.
