White Noise Gallery in Rome closes after eight years

White Noise Gallery, established by Eleonora Aloise and Carlo Maria Lolli Ghetti on March 15, 2014, has officially shut down. Initially located at via dei Marsi 22 in Rome's San Lorenzo district, it moved to via della Seggiola in 2018, close to Lorcan O'Neill and 1/9unosunove. Throughout its eight years, the gallery showcased artists such as Cristiano Carotti, Isabel Alonso Vega, and Jesús Herrera Martínez. Its new venue included two exhibition spaces and a small underground section featuring a Roman mosaic, which opened with "Rebirth," a solo exhibition by the Sardinian duo Santissimi (Sara Renzetti and Antonello Serra). In their farewell letter, the founders highlighted systemic issues in Italy, including a lack of cultural institutions and insufficient government support, along with the pandemic and economic challenges. They expressed gratitude to gallery manager Chiara Garlanda and emphasized their decision to close before their passion waned, underscoring the importance of embracing change in contemporary art.
