#whatif Exhibition in Copenhagen Explores Social Change and Hashtags

exhibition · 2026-05-05

The group exhibition #whatif opens March 16, 2018 at Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen, curated by Irene Campolmi. The show examines how political and social revolutions from the 1960s-70s and contemporary movements like #BlackLivesMatter and #MeToo are shaped by social media. Participating artists include Forensic Architecture, Renzo Martens and CATPC, Lara Baladi, Naeem Mohaiemen, Tomás Saraceno, Marcus Lindeen, and Larry Achiampong. Each presents projects addressing questions like 'what if art could eradicate poverty?' or 'what if documentary could be political resistance?' The exhibition is organized in collaboration with CPH:DOX, Europe's second-largest documentary festival. Campolmi, an Italian curator based in Copenhagen, is pursuing a PhD at Louisiana Museum on curatorial ethics and sustainability. The show runs through March 20, 2018.
