WHALE! completes Hospedería en Mbopicuá in Puerto Rico

architecture-design · 2026-04-27

The architecture firm WHALE! has completed the Hospedería en Mbopicuá, a lodging project located in Puerto Rico. Designed by architects Branko Pavlovic and Luca Montanarella, the 188 m² building was finished in 2024. The project was curated by Paula Pintos and constructed by Cristian Neis, with technical inspection by Noelia Carrazza. Windows were provided by Steffen Hermanos Srl, and suppliers included 3M, Emapi, Novasfalt, and T-Plak. Photographs were taken by Natalia Oyarzun. The project is categorized under hospitality and entertainment. According to the project description, the remote location required clear and efficient productive and economic strategies to relate to the environment without being absorbed by nature, vegetation, or fauna. These guidelines echo those used by Jesuit priests to build their evangelization settlements, which give the province its name.
