West Dean College and De La Warr Pavilion launch Bauhaus centenary residency with solo exhibition
West Dean College of Arts and Conservation and the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea have announced a three-week artist residency in March 2019, culminating in a solo exhibition at the gallery from October to December 2019. Created to mark the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus, the program invites artists whose interests align with the influential art school's origins, methodologies, and contemporary relevance. Applicants must be EU-based with at least two years of exhibiting experience. The residency provides full board, accommodation, studio space, and access to West Dean's resources including the Historic House, collection, and archive. A £2,500 fee is offered along with a separate budget for materials, travel, and exhibition production. During the residency, the artist will engage with postgraduate Fine Arts students through talks, tutorials, seminars, workshops, or critiques equivalent to two full days. The selected artist may return to West Dean for one week in summer 2019 to further develop work for the exhibition, which may include both new pieces created during the residency and existing works. Applications are due by September 16, 2018.
