Wes Anderson's Archives at London's Design Museum

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The Design Museum in London has opened a major retrospective of Wes Anderson's work, featuring over 700 objects from 30 years of filmmaking. The exhibition, curated by Lucia Savi and Johanna Agerman Ross, is an expanded version of a previous show at the Cinémathèque française in Paris, with 300 additional items. It includes a monumental scale model of the Grand Budapest Hotel, costumes, miniatures, storyboards, and props from films like Rushmore (1998), The Royal Tenenbaums, Moonrise Kingdom, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Asteroid City, and The Phoenician Scheme (2025). For the first time, props from Anderson's latest film are displayed in a museum context. The exhibition also screens three short films: Bottle Rocket (1993), Hotel Chevalier (2007), and Castello Cavalcanti (2013), plus The Swan from his Roald Dahl anthology. A section honors the craftspeople—illustrators, set designers, composers, puppet makers, and costume designers—who collaborate with Anderson. The show runs until July 26, 2026, and is accompanied by a catalog with contributions from Owen Wilson, Scarlett Johansson, Jason Schwartzman, Tilda Swinton, Alexandre Desplat, Seu Jorge, and Randall Poster.
