Wes Anderson and Juman Malouf to Curate Exhibition at Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum
Filmmaker Wes Anderson and his partner, illustrator and writer Juman Malouf, have been invited by the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna to curate an exhibition drawn from the museum's permanent collection. Opening September 11, 2018, the show will also feature works from all Austrian museums, including the Weltmuseum, Theatre Museum, and Schloss Ambras in Innsbruck, creating a wunderkammer of the nation's public heritage. This follows previous guest curatorships at the same museum by Ed Ruscha (2012) and Edmund de Waal (2016). The exhibition will encompass not only modern and contemporary paintings and sculptures but also Egyptian, Greco-Roman artifacts, armor, medals, coins, and musical instruments. After Vienna, the show is expected to travel to the Fondazione Prada in Venice during the 2019 Biennale. Anderson previously designed the Bar Luce for the Milan-based foundation. The exhibition runs through January 20, 2019.
