Wenders Cuts Kinski Nude Scene from 'Falsche Bewegung' After Apology

Wim Wenders has apologized to actress Nastassja Kinski and agreed to remove a nude scene from his 1975 film 'Falsche Bewegung' (Wrong Move), ending a long-standing dispute. The scene, which shows a 13-year-old Kinski topless and wearing only underwear, was the subject of Kinski's repeated requests for removal over the years. In a joint statement published on the Wenders Foundation website, both parties expressed a desire to move past the conflict and restore their long friendship. The film was withdrawn from streaming, TV, and distribution platforms in early June, and Wenders issued a formal apology, acknowledging that Kinski should have been better protected. He stated, 'As the only one of those responsible for 'Falsche Bewegung' who is still alive, I see that Nastassja Kinski should have been better protected back then. For that, I ask your forgiveness, Nastassja, without any ifs or buts.' Earlier, at the German Film Awards in May, Wenders had said he would never make the scene the same way today, but he could not blame his younger self, as he made a film in his time. The dispute had escalated when Kinski hired a lawyer who threatened legal action against Wenders. The resolution marks a significant moment in the ongoing discussion about the treatment of underage actors in film and the handling of film heritage.
