Wein am Berg: High-Altitude Wine and Food Festival in Austrian Alps

The 23rd annual Wein am Berg festival took place April 25-28, 2025, at the 5-star luxury hotel Das Central in Sölden, Austria, set against the Ötztal Alps. The three-day event featured wine from over 30 estates, including Billecart-Salmon and Bernard Magrez from France, Bodegas Iberian from Spain, Niepoort Vinhos from Portugal, and Austrian vintners such as Schmelz, Velich, Hannes Sabthi, and Bründlmayer. Culinary offerings were provided by 13 chefs with a combined seven Michelin Stars and 22 Gault & Millau Toques, including Roland Huber, Dávid Rózsa, and Andy Beynon. Activities included wine tastings on the glacier at nearly 3,000 meters, skiing on Sölden slopes decorated with sculptures by Alexander Maria Lohmann, a roulette night benefiting local charities, and a Big Bottle Party with a fireworks display. Guests could also enjoy spa facilities, helicopter rides, and visits to the Ice Q restaurant (featured in James Bond film Spectre). The festival was organized by Das Central general manager Michael Walsch and hotel owner Angelika Falkner. Tickets for Wein am Berg 2027 (April 22-25) are available.
