WEFT's Speak Café in Kuwait Conceals Coffee Tools Retail Within an Angular Green Envelope

At Avenues Mall in Kuwait City, design studio WEFT has unveiled Speak, a café spanning 71 square meters that also serves as a retail space for Coffee Tools. The design employs angular, faceted geometry to create two separate brand identities without the use of physical barriers. The café features green cement tiles on the counter and walls, complemented by grey granite flooring arranged to facilitate movement between the café and retail sections. Functional elements like lighting and menus are integrated into folded stainless steel panels, which subtly reveal their purpose. While Coffee Tools utilizes warmer materials like coffee-toned burl wood veneer, it shares the granite flooring with Speak, ensuring a cohesive visual flow. The layout emphasizes Speak as the main attraction, yet Coffee Tools is easily accessible. This design strategy echoes WEFT's earlier work at the FEIN KIDZ coffee shop in Yerevan, where stainless steel was utilized as a primary light source. Completed in 2026, this project illustrates how material and color can effectively create distinct identities for two brands within a unified space.
