Weekend art events in Arezzo province: Burri exhibition and Kilowatt festival
In the province of Arezzo, Tuscany, two art events are taking place. From July 9 to September 11, the Podesteria di Michelangelo in Chiusi della Verna hosts the exhibition "Alberto Burri. Le dimensioni della materia," curated by Laura Caruso and Saverio Verini. The show is organized in collaboration with Galleria delle Arti of Luigi Amadei, a friend of Burri and owner of the oldest private gallery still active in Umbria, located in Città di Castello, the artist's birthplace. The exhibition pairs two very different works: a small "Muffa" from 1951 (2.5 x 8 cm) and documentation of the monumental "Grande Cretto di Gibellina." A rich program of meetings complements the project. Meanwhile, in Sansepolcro, the Kilowatt festival runs from July 15 to 23, featuring theater, dance, music, visual arts, and meetings under the title "è tempo di risplendere." Promoted by the association CapoTrave/Kilowatt directed by Luca Ricci, the festival has become a national reference in theater. Highlights include the Italian premiere of Michael De Cock's "Kamyon," a show about migration from the Middle East to Europe set inside a truck (July 20-22), and "Walking on the Moon" by CK Teatro, combining actors and 3D technology. The festival, winner of the Ubu award, also has a visual arts section called KILOW'ART, curated by Saverio Verini, featuring Pietro Gaglianò's project "Nuova Didattica Popolare" in coproduction with Guilmi Art Project.
