We Design Beirut’s third edition set for May 2027
The third edition of We Design Beirut, a design event in Beirut, Lebanon, will take place May 26–30, 2027, under the theme “Love on the Mediterranean.” Founder and creative director Mariana Wehbe stated that the Mediterranean has always been a place of exchange where ideas, materials, traditions, and people travel across generations. The event will feature eight exhibitions, five panel talks, and three excursions to reactivated heritage sites. Two excursions will open historic residences Maison Tabet and Maison Rose to the public for the first time. Maison Tabet will host a photography exhibition by Johanne Issa and work by designer Nathalie Khoury, supported by Luura Hotels. Maison Rose will present a youth-led exhibition by Teymour Khoury, Yasmina Mahmoud, and Karl Abi Karam featuring works by local architecture students in Lebanon and abroad. Additional programming at PSLab, a venue used in prior editions (2024 and 2025), will include shows curated by Claudia Skaff, Galal Mahmoud, Karim Chaya, Dia Mrad, and Petra Abou Sleiman. The residence of photographer Ala Tannir in historic Manara will host an exhibition developed with UNESCO, bringing together students from Lebanese public schools to explore identity and memory. Wehbe noted that the edition aims to explore shared cultural landscapes while opening places that have shaped Beirut’s history. Organizers are accepting submissions from emerging designers via an open call with an August 15 deadline.
