Ways of the Black Spread Over the White Land at Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw

The Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw is currently showcasing an exhibition called 'Ways of the Black Spread Over the White Land,' organized by Oliwia Mimi Bosomtwe. This exhibit explores Poland's complex ties with Blackness and Sub-Saharan Africa during the Polish People's Republic (PRL). Although the communist regime publicly condemned racism, Cold War dynamics fostered cultural exchanges. Featuring works from 30 artists, including Jimoh Akolo, Marian Bogusz, Ewa Kuryluk, and Bruce Onobrakpeya, it examines the African diaspora's development in Poland through artistic and political perspectives. The exhibition also includes pieces from Polish and Nigerian creators, as well as graduates from Ethiopia, Sudan, and Kenya, along with archives from the Leon Schiller National Film, Television and Theatre School and the National Digital Archives.
