Wayne McGregor Confirmed as Biennale Danza Artistic Director Through 2026
The Board of Directors for La Biennale di Venezia, led by Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, has officially appointed Wayne McGregor as the Artistic Director of the Dance Sector for the 2025-2026 biennium. Buttafuoco commended McGregor for his ability to develop projects and his focus on engaging younger audiences. McGregor, who was honored as a baronet by King Charles III on June 15, 2024, shared his excitement about the festival evolving into a three-week international event. Plans ahead involve fostering contemporary dance talent via Biennale College. Born in Stockport in 1970, McGregor serves as the resident choreographer for the Royal Ballet and has collaborated with prominent companies. He will present MADDADDAM at the Royal Opera House in November 2024.
