Water Light Festival 2024 in Bressanone: Light Art Meets Sustainability
The Water Light Festival returns to Bressanone from April 24 to May 12, 2024, illuminating the historic center and the Abbey of Novacella with 15 installations in the city and 18 at the abbey. The festival, held annually since 2017, uses light and water as artistic media to promote environmental sustainability. This year it partners with Luci d’Artista (Turin), Copenhagen Light Festival, and RE.LIGHT (Regensburg). Artists include Pietro Gilardi (posthumous homage), Philipp Artus, Tom Groll, RaumZeitPiraten, Ocubo, Onionlab, Studio Toer, Xavi Bové, Tokyo Blue, Julia Dantonnet, Matej Bizovičar, Tilen Sepič, Esther Stocker, Georg Ladurner, Moritz Brunner, and Fabian Feichter. At Novacella, the exhibition 'NOTAZIONI' curated by Bettina Pelz runs until June 29, featuring Laurence Bonvin, Martina Dal Brollo, Sara Förster, Dorra Hichri, Annika Hippler, Julian Hölscher, Anish Kapoor, Brigitte Kowanz, Heinz Mack, Atelier Mejia Wälz, François Morellet, Jakub Nepraš, Charly Nijensohn, Juan Francisco Rodriguez, Jazmin Rojas Forero, Nicolás Rupcich, Keith Sonnier, and Rosmarie Weinlich. Highlights include Onionlab's 'Climate' on the cathedral facade, Tom Groll's 'Green Washing', and Gilardi's 'Migration (Climate Change)'. The festival uses only green energy and zero-emission printing, and expands public transport with extra buses and cooperation with ÖBB and DB.
