Warhol's Armani portrait leads Phillips' autumn auctions preview in Milan
Phillips is showcasing highlights from its upcoming Modern & Contemporary Art auctions in London and New York at its Milan space on Via Lanzone through September 26, 2025. The top lot is Andy Warhol's 1981 portrait of Giorgio Armani, estimated at £600,000–800,000, to be offered at the Modern & Contemporary Art Evening Sale in London on October 16. The work, based on a Polaroid, uses acrylic, silkscreen ink, and glass dust. Also on view is Carla Accardi's 1954 'Grigio (Ideogramma)' (estimate £100,000–150,000), marking her shift to painting on the floor. Emerging artists include Flora Yukhnovich (b. 1990) with 'My Body knows Un-Heard of Songs' (2017, estimate £900,000–1,500,000), inspired by Fragonard's 'The Swing', and Vojtěch Kovařík (b. 1993) with 'Laocoön' (2020, estimate £80,000–120,000). Margherita Solaini, Phillips' Milan director, highlighted the Warhol tribute to the recently deceased fashion icon and a strong group of female artists.
