War and Resilience: Intimate Art at Cité Internationale des Arts
Curated by Ukrainian Oksana Karpovets, the exhibition "Quand l’inconcevable prend forme" at Cité internationale des arts in Paris brings together fifteen artists and activists from Ukraine, Belarus, Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Iran, and Myanmar. Their works, created during residencies in Paris, explore resilience through intimate narratives rather than direct depictions of war. Highlights include Myro Klochko and Anatoliy Tatarenko's "Peace and Tranquility" (2022), a multi-generational life story; Open Group's karaoke piece "Repeat after Me" (2023); Bahar Majdzadeh's urban mapping "Refuges éphémères, lieux transformés" (2019-2023); and Rana Haddad and Pascal Hachem's "Débris de textes et de lunettes" (2022), which photographs shattered glasses collected from the Beirut port explosion site, each labeled with location, date, and time. Sirine Fattouh's "On Becoming" (2023) presents a mobile counter filled with personal artifacts—toys, drawings, a perfume bottle, silk scarf—reflecting her family's exile from Lebanon to Saint-Julien-en-Genevois, France. The exhibition runs until July 12, 2023, and is organized in partnership with Portes ouvertes sur l'art.
