Wannenes Wine Auction in Milan Sees Strong Italian Performance
On April 16, Wannenes conducted its inaugural wine auction for 2026, titled 'The Historical Cellar' Wine & Spirits Auction, in Milan. Leading the Italian segment was a complete vertical of Ornellaia Vendemmia d'Artista (2011-2021), which sold for €41,600. A rare imperial of Ornellaia 2013 achieved €8,125, while a 1987 Brunello di Montalcino Case Basse Soldera went for €1,000, marking a 167% increase. Among Masseto offerings, a double magnum from 1996 sold for €3,000. Sassicaia 1985 reached €1,375, reflecting a 214% rise. Notable Piedmont sales included Barolo Riserva Monfortino 1990 at €1,300, and Champagne Krug's Clos du Mesnil 1979 sold for €3,750. Bordeaux featured Lafite Rothschild 2010 at €3,750, and the auction concluded with Macallan whiskies, highlighted by Macallan 18 Years Old 1966 at €1,875.
