Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu to Lead 2027 Venice Architecture Biennale

The 20th Venice Architecture Biennale in 2027 will be led by Chinese architects Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu, who co-founded Amateur Architecture Studio. This event is set to take place from May 8 to November 21. Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, the president of La Biennale, praised their approach as essential for international architectural discussions. Wang and Lu have a history with the Biennale, having participated in the China Pavilion in 2006 and earning a Special Mention in 2010. Their studio, started in 1997 in Hangzhou, focuses on sustainable designs using local materials, with acclaimed projects like the Ningbo Historic Museum. Wang won the Pritzker Prize in 2012, and their work has been showcased globally, including prominent museums in New York and Paris.
