Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu to Curate Venice Architecture Biennale 2027
The Venice Architecture Biennale 2027, the 20th International Architecture Exhibition, will be curated by Chinese architects Wang Shu and Lu Wenyu, founders of Amateur Architecture Studio. Announced in November 2025, the duo previously participated in the biennale in 2006, 2010 (receiving a Special Mention for 'Decay of a Dome'), and 2016. Wang Shu won the Pritzker Prize in 2012. The main theme is yet to be revealed. The exhibition runs from 8 May to 21 November 2027 at the Giardini and Arsenale sites, with vernissage days on 6 and 7 May. The Central Pavilion in the Giardini has been restored and reopened in spring 2026. National participations are being announced; the UK pavilion will be curated by a UK-Malaysia team including Grymsdyke Farm's Dr Guan Lee and IDK's Mike Lim, celebrating 70 years of diplomatic relations. The British Council held a competition for the selection.
