Wang Bing's Photographic Memory at Galerie Espace Temps

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Until December 9, 2023, the Galerie Espace Temps in Paris is featuring three photographic series by filmmaker Wang Bing. Curated by Joseph Cui at the suggestion of Jean Loh, this exhibition delves into Wang's artistic contributions. The first series, 'À l'ouest des rails' (West of the Tracks), comprises fifteen black-and-white images from the 1990s showcasing the Shenyang steel foundry, which anticipated his nine-hour documentary released in 2002. The second series, 'L'Homme sans nom' (The Man Without a Name, 2014), presents large-scale portraits of a homeless individual in Beijing. Lastly, 'Traces' (2009) captures lunar landscapes and a skull in Mingshui, Gansu, the site where victims of the 1957 political campaign died. The exhibition is presented by Les Voies de l'Art, under the direction of Joseph Cui and Alice Zhang.
